You may not be driving at the moment, but if you're thinking
about learning then make sure you know the facts about alcohol
and driving.
Never get into a car where the driver is drunk or suspect
they have been drinking.
There is no guide to tell you how many drinks you can have
and still be under the legal limit. It can depend on many
factors such as:
- weight
- sex
- age
- metabolism
- stress levels
- amount of food eaten
- amount and type of alcohol consumed.
Even a tiny amount of alcohol can affect your driving
as it slows your reaction times, making it harder to judge
speed and distances accurately. The best plan is not to
drink at all if you're going to drive. If someone else offers
to be the designated driver then offer to buy them drinks,
but make sure they're soft drinks. Remember that if you
drink a lot in an evening you may still be over the legal
limit the next morning.
